Wanted: Nearly $20K stolen through Cashapp, police suspect victim’s sister

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Shreveport Police Department is searching for Melissa Coates in relation to a fraud investigation regarding her brother.

In early 2025, Coates allegedly used her brother’s card to make a series of unauthorized transactions.

Detectives discovered that most of the transactions were through Cash App and totaled approximately $20,000.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Melissa Coates is urged to contact the Shreveport Police Department at 318-673-7300.
