Shawn Goodwin, 53, was arrested Thursday afternoon by Muncie police after they were called to investigate a stabbing. Goodwin has since been booked into Delaware County Jail and is currently being held without bond on one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Court documents detail how MPD officers were called around 11:30 a.m. to a stabbing in the 1500 block of E. Highland Avenue. Upon arrival, they located a victim who was suffering from “multiple stab and cut wounds” on his torso, legs and hands.
The victim said he was standing under an overhang to avoid heavy rainfall when a man walked by and “said something.” The victim said he didn’t think much of it until the man, later identified as Goodwin, returned a few minutes later with a knife in each hand.
The victim said Goodwin took both knives, one black and one gold, and began attacking him. The victim reportedly fought off the attack but still suffered several injuries.
Police soon found Goodwin inside a nearby parked car and discovered a gold knife in his possession. After seeing that Goodwin had an injury on his right hand and was bleeding, the suspect was taken into custody. There was also reportedly blood found on his clothes.
Online court records show that Goodwin has several pending intimidation cases in Delaware County where he is accused of drawing a weapon. Records show he was arrested for intimidation previously in January 2025 and earlier this month.
