Kee Wah Bakery is closing its Cupertino and Dublin shops, with its last day on Sunday, Oct. 5. The bakery called the closure a “difficult decision.” Kee Wah Bakery said it will focus its operations on four Southern California locations.
“It was a difficult decision for our company, and we are most grateful for the tremendous support we have received from our loyal customers and our most hardworking staff,” Kee Wah Bakery wrote in a letter. “While this chapter ends, our company continues to focus on the development of business in the Los Angeles area and expanding our operations in Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and Singapore. We look forward to seeing our SF Bay Area customers visiting other locations soon. We hope to meet again.”
Some of Kee Wah Bakery’s customers are saddened by the closure, including one who purchased their wedding cake there.
“Bummer. We purchased our bridal cakes there,” one Bay Area resident said on Facebook about the closure.
“We will miss the Cupertino Kee Wah amazing Hong Kong style breads and pastries. It is the best in the world. I mean it,” a Cupertino resident wrote on Facebook.
Kee Wah Bakery opened its first location in Hong Kong back in 1938, according to its website. Its other bakeries are in Arcadia, Monterey Park, San Gabriel and Rowland Heights.
