NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans is known around the world for its magnificent music: from brass and blues to jazz and rock. This weekend features an abundance of festivals that all feature fantastic live music, as well as great Louisiana food. Here are Where Y’at’s picks!:

    class="wp-block-list">
  • First, artists from around the globe are coming for this weekend’s International Arts Festival, a multi-day event at various locations like Armstrong Park and The Fillmore. From African-inspired art and food to the sounds of musicians from London and Jamaica, there’s plenty to enjoy.
  • Did you know Bogalusa is the home of blues music in Louisiana? Starting tomorrow, the Bogalusa Blues & Heritage Festival is back at the newly renovated Cassidy Park. With two days, Sept. 26-27, of live music, great food, camping, and more, the fest pays tribute to musicians who paved the way for blues music in Louisiana.
  • Next, creating a platform to honor and celebrate Black folk artists in the South, the Black Americana Fest is at The Broadside on Saturday, Sept. 27 and Sunday, Sept. 28. The family-friendly event will feature powerful live performances from Black folk musicians.
  • Finally, on Saturday, Sept. 27 Dillard University hosts “Improving Health Through Music.” Drop by Dillard’s Professional Schools Building starting at 11 am for free healthy food boxes, diabetic screenings, and more. Then pop over to their Georges Auditorium for a free jazz concert featuring Margie Perez and others.
