According to the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, Ernest Dixson entered the Maskarade store on St. Ann Street where he forced the cashier at gunpoint to submit to a sexual assault and robbery before fleeing with her cellphone.
Utilizing camera footage, the New Orleans Police Department tracked Dixson within hours. DNA evidence was processed which corroborated the victim’s account and identified Dixson.
The DA’s office said in a separate incident, about a month earlier, Dixson showed up unannounced to his former partner’s home. There he violently confronted her and fired a gun into her front door while she, her two-year-old child and her boyfriend were inside.
Dixon was convicted of the following crimes:
Dixson was sentenced to 35-years in prison. All his sentences will run concurrently.
