James Wood High School resource officer terminated after inappropriate contact with student: FCSO

FREDERICK COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A Frederick County school resource officer was terminated after allegedly having inappropriate contact with a high school student, officials announced Tuesday.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said that on Sept. 20, deputies received information about an inappropriate contact between the resource officer and a female student at James Wood High School.

Following the allegation, the officer was placed on administrative leave immediately, officials noted.

However, after consulting with the Frederick County Public Schools, the Commonwealth’s Attorney, and the Department of Social Services, the officer was terminated on Sept. 22.

“We want to ensure the public knows that this was an isolated incident that has tarnished the badge, the reputation of Frederick County Sheriff’s Office personnel and our School Resource Officers and should not reflect negatively on the entire agency,” said the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office in a release.
