Marshall County school resource officer charged for allegedly harassing student

BENTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — According to a Monday news release, a Marshall County School resource officer is under investigation for alleged harassment.

Kentucky State Police said the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office asked for help investigating 47-year-old Deputy James Steven Oakley.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

Oakley allegedly sent inappropriate messages to juvenile students at Marshall County High School, according to the news release.

On July 11, a grand jury returned an indictment and charged Oakley, of Benton, with harassment.

Kentucky State Police said Oakley has served as a school resource officer since being hired back by MCSO in November 2022, after previously retiring in December 2020 after 20 years of service with MCSO.
