HOPE/TEXARKANA, Arkansas (KTAL/KMSS) — Enrollment is open for courses from the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana and the James Black School of Bladesmithing and Historic Trades
at the Historic Washington State Park.

The School of Bladesmithing was founded to celebrate James Black, the creator of the original Bowie Knife, and is the only program of its kind in the University of Arkansas system.

A class on hunting knives will be offered from October 10 through October 13 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attendees will learn how to forge and finish a custom hunting knife.

From November 3 to November 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., a free class for veterans will offer hands-on training taught by JR Cook.

World-class master bladesmiths teach all courses, giving students hard-to-find expertise.
