COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Columbus Police Department announced on Thursday that a man accused of injuring his wife and their child in a drive-by shooting has turned himself in.

CPD says 28-year-old Jontay Reynolds turned himself in to authorities after a warrant was issued for charges of drive-by shooting and two counts of aggravated assault.

According to Columbus police, on Tuesday at approximately 6:43 p.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of Susan Lane for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found several spent shell casings in the roadway, but no victims.

Afterwards, a separate report came that mentioned two gunshot victims in front of the Columbus Police Department’s East Precinct.

CPD says the victims were a 24-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son, who were then transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional.

The child reportedly had minor injuries, while the woman was listed in critical condition.

After the Violent Crimes Unit responded, an investigation revealed Reynolds as the suspect and the victims’ husband and father.

He is scheduled to appear in in Recorder’s Court for a preliminary hearing on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
