Docs: Bargersville man stomped on, killed kitten

BARGERSVILLE, Ind. — Police have arrested a Bargersville man accused of killing a cat “out of anger.”

According to court documents filed in Johnson County on Sept. 17, a 32-year-old man has been preliminarily charged with cruelty to an animal, which is a misdemeanor.

The alleged incident occurred on Sept. 1 when an officer with the Bargersville Police Department responded to a home on N. Wagon Road in response to a reported disturbance involving the death of a cat.

The officer arrived and began speaking with the man. He initially denied the allegations before going on to admit that he had been arguing with his wife. Court documents show that he admitted to going outside and killing the kitten in a fit of anger. He said he stepped on the cat.

The man acknowledged he had anger issues and that it was “getting worse and worse.” The man then agreed to show the officer where the dead kitten was located.

Police interviewed with the Bargersville man’s wife, who confirmed to them that they did have an argument and that a kitten had died after the man accidentally stomped on it.

A short time later, the Johnson County Animal Control arrived on the scene and collected the dead kitten from a trash can. The man was then transported to the Johnson County Jail, where he is currently being held.

Online court records indicate that an initial hearing in the case is scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. on Oct. 20.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Due to the suspect in this case only being charged with a misdemeanor, FOX59/CBS4 is not publishing his name. If more severe charges are officially filed against, his name will be added to the article.
