Tropical Storm Humberto formed from a tropical wave on Wednesday evening with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour. Humberto is moving west-northwesterly at 15 miles per hour. It’s forecast to reach hurricane strength over the weekend, possibly reaching major hurricane status next week. Humberto isn’t a direct threat to the U.S., but those in Bermuda should keep an eye on this storm.

Hurricane Gabrielle is weakening in the north-central Atlantic as it deals with high westerly wind shear and cooler waters. Gabrielle will impact the Azores as Hurricane Warnings are in place for the islands. After bringing hurricane conditions to the Azores, Gabrielle will slowly shed its warm-core tropical characteristics as it closes in on western Europe and northern Africa this weekend into next week.

The next name on the list in the Atlantic this year is Imelda.
