93-year-old Tigers fan remembers husband who played LSU football
WGNO’s Kenny Lopez found out she has strong ties to the Tigers football team.
93-year-old, Betty Jo Brown’s got the LSU Tiger spirit.
“My fan nails are purple, oh roar,” she said.
Every football season, Betty Jo takes a walk down memory lane thinking about the days she went to LSU.
“To football games, I had to wear high heels or a suit or a very nice dress,” she said.
Brown attended LSU where she met her late-husband Caswell Brown, who she was married to for 56 years.
Caswell Brown played for LSU’s football team.
“I didn’t love him because he played football. He was a very good looking man. He has big ears, but he was the pick of the litter,” she said.
She felt like she was the first-round pick because Sage Lake Senior Living in Covington, where she lives organized a trip to LSU, so she went to honor her late-husband.
When she visited LSU she visited Mike the Tiger, went to the locker room and went onto the field.
“I was just holding up Caswell’s picture, so everyone could see how cute he was,” she said.
Brown said she took with her to LSU the game-winning ball that her husband gave to her before he died of heart complications.
“I held the football and ran through,” she said.
She plans to give the game-winning ball to her great-grandson one day.
“Is there any other school around here, no there’s LSU, LSU,” she enthusiastically said.
Her husband’s spirit lives on through her Tiger team spirit.
