Update, 5:25 p.m.: Provo City Power says that the damage was limited to the sectionalizer box, meaning they were able to perform repairs once the car was removed. They also stated that they were “glad the driver was able to walk away.”

PROVO, Utah (ABC4) — Provo City is experiencing a power outage after a sectionalizer was hit. The city says the outage will be “significant” and may last all night.
According to a Facebook post from Provo City Power, they were contacted by police regarding a hit sectionalizer — an electrical switch that is part of the power system — near 36 W 3700 N.
Provo City Power’s line crew is responding to repair the damage. They say that they will have to isolate the equipment to remove the car before they can complete the repair. Provo City is not sure what the scope of the outage will be, but says it will be “significant.”
The best-case scenario will be three to four hours of outage, but the repair may take all night, according to Provo City Power.
ABC4 has contacted the Provo Police Department for more information about the inciting crash.
