SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The block-by-block initiative was created to help clean up the streets of Shreveport, however the city received more than they were searching for during the Mooretown cleanup.

Mooretown recently completed the second-to-last phase of its ongoing neighborhood cleanup campaign.

The Shreveport Police Department (SPD) announced that during the cleanup, more than just old tires were discovered. A large gun haul was recovered, with over 20 large firearms seized.

On September 19, 2025, SPD received a tip that led to a targeted operation. 

This operation resulted in three felony arrests, 19 misdemeanor arrests, the seizure of 23 firearms, and the recovery of two stolen vehicles. In addition 4 juveniles were arrested for gun related charges.

Officials praised the collaboration with the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office and the Violent Crimes Abatement Team for their joint efforts in making the community safer.
