Man arrested in connection with Central City homicide investigation
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officers with the New Orleans Police Department arrested a man who has been accused in a Central City homicide investigation on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

According to the NOPD, 49-year-old Wallace Gilmore was arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in the 2700 block of LaSalle Street. He will be booked into the Orleans Justice Center.

Deputies responded to reports of a shooting on LaSalle Street on Monday, Sept. 22. Officers found 59-year-old Willie Lemar Jr. suffering with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

During the investigation, NOPD detectives said they identified Gilmore as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest on a charge of second-degree murder.

On Wednesday, Gilmore was taken into custody.
