“We did have a little concentration of moisture that moved through yesterday,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said Wednesay morning.
Video taken in Ventura shortly after midnight showed multiple lightning strikes as streets quickly became slickened by the downpour.
A slow-moving low-pressure system will bring another chance of showers and thunderstorms as we head toward the weekend, with the likelihood greatest in the mountains and deserts, according to the NWS.
“We have some moisture that will start to bubble in as we get to the weekend … so it looks like Saturday we do have a chance for thunderstorms,” Henry said. “We will still have a very nice weekend with temperatures in many areas going slightly below the average.”
The region is expected to get some relief from the early fall heat over the next few days.
“A little bit of a cooldown for you today, back closer to the average,” Henry said. “Ninety-two yesterday (Downtown L.A.), it was a hot day for us. Eighty-two should be the average, and we were well above it. Today we will bring temperatures down.”
The National Weather Service (NWS) is calling for a 4 to 8 degree drop in temperatures from Tuesday’s highs, but above-average humidity levels might feel a little uncomfortable.
