Chicago police warn businesses of recent burglary spree

CHICAGO (WGN) – Chicago police are warning businesses about a recent string of burglaries in the Brighton Park, Chicago Loop, Lakeview East, Edgewater and Logan Square neighborhoods.

Police said the incidents happened at the following times and locations:

  • 4300 block of S Talman on September 21-22, 2025 from 7:30 p.m. -5:00 a.m. (Brighton Park)
  • 200 block of W Van Buren on September 22, 2025 at 1:25 a.m. (Chicago Loop)

  • 2900 block of N Sheffield on September 22, 2025 at 1:42 a.m. (Lake View East)
  • 5500 block of N Broadway on September 22, 2025 at 4:05 a.m. (Edgewater)
  • 2300 block of N California on September 22, 2025 at 1:56 a.m. (Logan Square)
  • 2300 block of N California on September 24, 2025 at 2:21 a.m. (Logan Square)
  • 4200 block of S Archer on September 23, 2025 at 2:25 a.m. (Brighton Park)
  • 4200 block of S Archer on September 23, 2025 at 2:40 a.m. (Brighton Park)

In each incident, the suspect(s) forcibly entered the business after breaking a front glass window/door. Once inside, they take liquor bottles and ATM machines, according to investigators.

Police described the suspect(s) as one to five people between the ages of 15 and 25, wearing black hooded sweatshirts, dark-colored jeans/sweatpants and black ski masks.

  • Keep the perimeter of your property well lit.
  • Be aware of this crime and notify nearby businesses.
  • Report suspicious activity immediately.
  • Immediately repair any broken windows, doors or locks.
  • If video surveillance is available, save and make a copy of the incident for investigating detectives.
  • If you are a victim do not touch anything, call police immediately.
  • If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information.
