Less than a month remains to pay property taxes

The October 15 deadline for property taxes is quickly approaching and the Baxter County Collector is reminding the public to settle their balances to avoid penalties and interest fees.

Teresa Smith, who serves as the County Collector, tells KTLO, Classic Hits and the Boot News the penalties for late payment go into effect the day following the deadline.

A new email reminder system was put into place for this year and the reception has been positive from the tax payers.

Examining the tax statement before making the payment is always a smart step to ensure credits and fees have been properly calculated.

The Collector’s Office, located at 8 E 7th St in Mountain Home, is open Monday to Friday 8 to 4:30 and can be reached by phone at (870) 425-8300.

Payments can be made by cash, check or debit/ credit card. Payments made by card are subject to additional processing fees. Smith says new payment options will be available with new updates coming to the office after this year.

An opportunity to support the Baxter County Animal Shelter is open to all visitors of the Collector’s Office. All funds given go to support the animals, feed them and provide for their medical needs.
