Drivers face rush hour delays after rollover crash along I-290 in Bellwood

BELLWOOD, Ill. (WGN) — A rollover crash along the Eisenhower Expressway is causing some headaches for drivers during rush hour on Tuesday morning.

The crash, which appeared to have involved four cars, unfolded in the eastbound lanes of I-290, near South 17th Avenue, in Bellwood.

SkyCam 9 was over the scene around 7 a.m. when one of the vehicles involved could be seen resting on its side in the center lane, just in front of a second car, which was sitting partially in the center lane and the far left lane.

Two other cars, which did not appear to be badly damaged, could be seen just in front of the overturned vehicle, also blocking the center lane.

The crash appears to have shut down the center lane near 17th Avenue, though traffic is still getting by at a sluggish pace.

Authorities have not provided updates on how long the closures will be in place.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the crash or if anyone was injured.
