Senior tailback Leshon Williams had an impressive game for the Jayhawks, garnering 19 carries for 129 yards and a score on the ground.
Williams put the exclamation point on the 41-10 blowout win in the fourth quarter with a 62-yard score.
He also had one catch for a 39-yard score in the second quarter.
Williams got increased reps against West Virginia as Daniel Hishaw left the game in the first quarter and was reportedly banged up throughout the week.
“I always practice like I’m going to be ready to go,” Williams told 27 Sports. “I just wanted to stay ready.”
“He runs physically and does such a good job at being a one-cut guy,” head coach Lance Leipold said. “I told him I didn’t think he was that fast to outrun everyone, but it was a heck of a run and big-time game for him.”
The Jayhawks will now turn their attention to Saturday as they welcome the Cincinnati Bearcats to town.
Kickoff for Saturday is set for 11 a.m.
