A criminal complaint said a Department for Community Based Services worker called police to a Meadow Lane apartment in Oak Grove on Sept. 18 after responding to a complaint.
Officials reported that once entering the home, there was immediately an overwhelming smell of feces. There was reportedly clothing, trash, and debris scattered across the floor, making it difficult to walk.
According to the complaint, there was feces smeared on the walls of the apartment and the bed.
Jessica Reeve, 36, allegedly told authorities her sons had gotten into the habit of smearing poop on the walls.
“Throughout the whole apartment, there were no clean surfaces for children to play, sit or sleep,” wrote an Oak Grove Police Department sergeant.
Reeve reportedly told police that she, her two 10-year-olds, and her 6-year-old were living in the apartment.
The officer noted in their complaint that this wasn’t Reeve’s first contact with police about living conditions.
In 2024, Reeve was charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment after allegedly putting two autistic male juveniles in danger by leaving one home alone in unsafe conditions and allowing another to run on a busy roadway.
Reeve was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
She was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
Her bond was set at $15,000, and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday.
