OAK GROVE, Ky. (WKRN) — A man is facing multiple charges in Christian County, including strangulation and terroristic threatening, after an argument with his girlfriend reportedly turned violent.
On Saturday, June 28, the Oak Grove Police Department said officers investigated a report of an assault that happened in the Carter Road area.
According to authorities, the victim said 32-year-old Brandon Bunch assaulted her, threatened to kill her, and restricted her airway. In addition, he allegedly took her phone.
“Despite her attempts to escape from Bunch, he restrained her and prevented her from fleeing. When she tried to contact the police, he removed her ability to do so,” the department wrote on Facebook. “It is further alleged that he took the victim to a secluded area where she feared he would carry out his threats.”
WKDZ Radio said Bunch drove his girlfriend to the bridge at Carter Road and tried to pull her out, but a passerby stopped and the victim was able to escape. However, Bunch reportedly accelerated the vehicle, causing the woman to fall to the ground, and nearly hit her as he sped off.
According to the radio station, law enforcement said it appeared Bunch was trying to throw the victim over the bridge.
After the Christian County court issued a warrant for Bunch’s arrest, police said military officials helped take the Oak Grove man into custody.
Authorities said Bunch was booked into the Christian County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond, charged with the following offenses:
