According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Dashun Wheeler, Jr., 22, faces three counts of making a false statement on paperwork required to purchase firearms.
Federal authorities allege that on August 28th, 2024, September 23rd, 2024, and October 8th, 2024, Wheeler purchased handguns and said he was the buyer, but was actually purchasing the weapons for someone else.
If convicted, Wheeler faces up to 5 years in prison.
The ATF Madison Crime Gun Task Force and officers from Janesville and Beloit worked on the investigation that led to Wheeler’s arrest.
In 2021, Wheeler was the subject of a missing persons report after he went missing for a month.
