
MIDVALE, Utah (ABC4) — Unified Police are investigating after a person was found dead with a gunshot wound at the scene of a traffic accident Thursday evening.
In a press release, Unified Police say their dispatch received a call of a traffic accident near Jackson Street and La Salle Drive in Midvale around 8:15 p.m. Thursday evening. Units from Unified Police and Unified Fire Authority responded immediately and provided life saving efforts to the victim, but the victim was pronounced deceased on scene.
Police say that during the initial investigation, it was discovered that the victim, identified as 23-year-old Mason Snowball of West Valley City, had sustained a gunshot wound. Detectives from UPD’s Violent Crimes division responded to the scene and began a homicide investigation.
Around 11 p.m. on Friday, Unified Police officers took a 14-year-old male juvenile into custody in connection with the incident, and he was booked into the Salt Lake County Juvenile Detention Center.
The case is still under investigation.
