ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — One of the largest youth basketball camps in America, “Nike Phenom America,” kicked off its “2025 America Midwest Camp” in Rockford on Saturday at the UW Health Sports Factory.

The camp, which runs through the weekend, features boys from 6th to 12th grade competing and honing their skills. Nike Phenom America has a history of success, having helped more than 250 players reach the NBA and WNBA since its inception in 2002.

“It has a history of creating and developing great athletes. So it is so important for these kids to get in touch at an early age,” said Danial Petrie of Nike Phenom America. “The skill development is second to none here.”

The camp is expected to generate an estimated $155,000 in economic impact for the Rockford area. This influx is anticipated as families and participants visit local businesses and accommodations.

Top-ranked high school players are providing learning opportunities for the campers, although their specific names were not mentioned in the report.
