Jessica Marie Mauthe, 39, of Cadogan, PA, is in the Armstrong County Jail after District Judge J. Gary Decomo denied her bail. This came after a state police investigation into the four dead babies that were discovered in a Cadogan Township home.
No further details surrounding the four infants were provided other than that they were located in a bedroom and attic of the residence on Sept. 13.
Autopsies were conducted at the Indiana County Coroner’s Office, which led to original charges against Mauthe being withdrawn and refiled. The Pennsylvania State Police Kittanning Criminal Investigative Unit, along with the Armstrong County District Attorney and coroner, announced the new charges against Mauthe Thursday, Sept. 18, which include one count of criminal homicide, one count of involuntary manslaughter, four counts of concealing the death of a child, and four counts of abuse of corpse.
An investigation into the case remains ongoing. State police are also cooperating with the South Buffalo Township Police Department, the Armstrong County District Attorney’s Office, and the Armstrong County Coroner’s Office.
Mauthe’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 30.
Troopers ask anyone with information about this case to contact Pennsylvania State Police in Kittanning at (724) 543-2011. Trooper Justin Simons is leading the investigation.
