SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS)- Lace up your running shoes and get ready to be a hero.

The Volunteer Youth Justice Program and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) are hosting their 8th annual Superhero Run, featuring a 5K, 10K, and fun run.

The event highlights CASA’s mission of securing safe and permanent homes for children who have been abused or neglected across Northwest Louisiana. Volunteers serve as the voice, eyes, and ears for children in foster care, helping ensure their best interests are represented in court.

“CASA advocates truly are the superheroes for these kids, but most of all, these children are the superheroes,” said Laura Hyson, CASA program coordinator.

This year’s run, made possible in part by support from Ochsner LSU Health, will feature bounce houses, snow cones, treats, run buddies, and of course, appearances from superheroes.

Organizers say there’s still time to register online or at the race. Families are encouraged to come out, run, walk, or simply enjoy the fun-filled day in support of CASA and the children they serve.
