FNF Southern Quality Ford Dealers Scholar-Athlete of the Week: Patrick Taylor’s Anthony Scandurro

WESTWEGO, La. (WGNO)- Anthony Scandurro has been a pivotal piece of the Patrick Taylor football program since it started in 2021.

Scandurro is a five-year starter, two-time team captain, and all-district selection. He has recorded a 4.9 GPA and 32 on the ACT.

His ability to balance academics and athletics has made him the perfect ambassador for the school.

“Most of it is time management. I like having my events planned. In my house, we have a whiteboard that we use just to know where everybody’s going on which day. I definitely limit my screen time so that I’m able to have practice and be able to do my homework and stuff like that, and make sure I study so I can get the A’s on the tests,” Scandurro said.

Scandurro’s juggling act continues outside of football, as a National Merit Scholar who serves as vice president of the student council and the environmental club.

He’s also involved in Boy Scouts.

“Student athletes have a lot of responsibility between just being a student and playing their respective sports,” head coach Kenny Bourgeois said. “So for him to, you know, be a multiple-time All-District football player and then to be a captain for wrestling and then to be a valedictorian for our school on top of student council and Boy Scouts. And I don’t know how he manages it, but he’s knocked them all out of the park. So like you said, very proud of him.”

Scandurro plans to study engineering at either LSU or Pittsburgh.
