Public works crews are installing a new underground conduit system that safeguards electrical wiring to shorten repair times for future outages.
Robert Holt, utilities superintendent for Bowie, says the project is necessary to keep residents safe.
“We really want to get this completed as quickly as possible so residents can feel safe about lights on their streets…also, the constant having to send repair crews…to the streets to repair things on multiple occasions. So we are hoping to get this done as soon as we can,” Holt explained.
Holt said the improvements will cause fewer disruptions and will create brighter nights on the streets. The streetlight job is a long-term project.
