The Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System said crews were called to the 17000 block of Strathallen Court just before 1 a.m. for reports of a house fire.
There, crews saw a two-story home with fire showing from a second-floor window.
No injuries were reported.
The fire was deemed accidental due to a malfunction involving a lithium battery.
Estimated damages to the home are around $275,000.
Officials said the smoke alarms were able to alert the family. They closed the door to the room where the fire started, got out of the house and called 911.
