State Rep. Stan Lambert honored as Abilene's 2025 Outstanding Citizen of the Year
Presented annually since 1946, the award honors individuals who leave a lasting legacy in the community. Lambert received the recognition from 2024 honoree Ray Ferguson during the Abilene Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Membership Meeting & Awards Celebration on September 18.
A 1975 graduate of Abilene Christian University, Lambert later earned a graduate certification in banking from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking. While his career achievements are notable, the Chamber emphasized that he is best known for his leadership and public service.
Before serving as District 71’s representative, Lambert was School Board President and Mayor of Ennis, Texas. He has also coached youth sports and served on numerous nonprofit boards.
One person who nominated him shared: “As Rick Warren observed, ‘The measure of greatness is not the number of people who serve you, but the number of people you serve.’ By that standard, our honoree exemplifies true greatness. He has served not only in title, but as a servant-leader in heart and action.”
A nominator gave Lambert another lofty accolade: “There are very few public figures I would hold up as a role model for my sons. This person is undoubtedly one of them.”
Beyond his public service, Lambert is a family man, married to Debbie for 43 years, father of two, and grandfather of three.
“Stan Lambert has pitched for Abilene all his life,” said Chamber President & CEO Doug Peters. “He embodies the spirit of servant leadership that makes this community thrive, and we are proud to recognize him as our 2025 Outstanding Citizen of the Year.”
Lambert recently announced plans to step away from representing District 71, but says he looks forward to spending more time with family and finding new ways to serve the community he loves.
