SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Reportedly, car thefts have increased in multiple areas across Utah, including in Kaysville and in Wayne County.
According to the Kaysville Police Department, vehicle burglaries have increased over the last month. As a result, officials are asking the public to be aware and remember to lock up.

KPD is recommending people follow what they call 9pm routine, and they say the public should “Take a few moments each night to go through this quick and easy checklist”. The routine steps include the following:
Remove car keys from vehicle
Bring your valuables inside (purse, wallet, cash, phone, firearms, etc)
Lock your vehicles and home
Turn on exterior light
Additionally, anyone who sees suspicious activity in Kaysville should report it to the non-emergency line at 801-298-6000 or, in an emergency, call 911.
Other areas in Utah are also seeing an uptick in car-related thefts. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help after a couple had their tires stolen off of their vehicle.

Between the evening of September 17, 2025, and the morning of September 18, 2025, a visiting couple reportedly had all four tires stolen off their vehicle while parked at 150 N Center Street in Torrey, Utah. This theft left them stranded in the area.

Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is looking for help in solving this crime and ending thefts. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at 435-836-1308 or non-emergency dispatch at 800-356-8757.
Individuals who see any suspicious activity in Wayne County are also asked to call the above numbers.
