Jonathan Van Laar, of Van Laar’s Fruit Farm, has been participating in the market for sixteen years.
Van Laar said, “You get to meet and shake the hand of the farmer, you get to know the person who is there growing your crops, who’s baking your baked goods, you get to have that relationship that you just don’t get anywhere else.”
The weekly farmer’s market is something that Rockford resident Tyler Smith says he enjoys attending regularly. “I enjoy this market as well as the one on N Main and Auburn every Sunday,” said Smith.
Smith went on to say, “I love asking them what’s best and awesome. Oftentimes they get recipes or ideas on how to prepare some of the fruits and vegetables,”.
The Edgebrook Farmer’s Market occurs every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The last chance to attend will be Oct. 29.
