NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office has asked for the public’s help in locating the families of two women.

Dr. Christopher Tape reported both women died of natural causes and that the cases are unrelated.

On July 15, Tape reports 67-year-old Dale Serene Martin was found dead inside of her Mandeville home on Cedarwood Drive. A search for Martin’s relatives have been unsuccessful according to Tape.

He adds that Martin was born in Trinidad and Tabago but the government of the Caribbean nation has no record of her.

On Aug. 5, the body of 74-year-old Julia Elaine Brown was found inside of her Abita Springs home. A search for Brown’s family was also deemed unsuccessful.

Brown is believed to have been born in Central Europe and adopted by a U.S. Military serviceman and wife who had no other children.

“I believe all people deserve appropriate and responsible disposition of their remains. Usually, identifying next of kin is not difficult, even when it takes some time. In these two cases, we have had no success and are asking for help. In a region as multicultural as southeast Louisiana and as cosmopolitan as the New Orleans area, there may be family or friendship ties that will help us notify the appropriate family members,” said Tape.

Anyone with information on a next of kin for either woman can call Investigator Chris Knoblauch at 985-781-1150.
