Space-themed kids’ events at Shreve Library until Sept. 24

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Now through September 24, Shreve Memorial Library branches are hosting free events to teach children about NASA‘s Artemis II space Mission.

Participants can learn about space exploration, the cosmos, and the Artemis II mission, expected to launch in April 2026.

The mission will take a crew of four astronauts aboard NASA’s Space Launch System(SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft around the moon.

On September 18, children can climb aboard a storytime rocket ship at the Hamilton/South Caddo Branch at 10:30 a.m. They can also create a moon collage with buttons at the North Caddo Branch at 4 p.m.

On September 19 at 4:45 p.m., the West Shreveport Branch will host “Operation Moon Bounce Role Play.” In this program, children will use their imaginations to travel to the moon, collect moon rocks, and search for alien life.

There will be space-themed storytime programs at 10 a.m. at the Hollywood/Union Avenue Branch on September 22 and at the Wallette Branch on September 23.

“Discover Artemis II,” a lesson on the upcoming space mission, takes place at the Atkins Branch on September 24 at 4:30 p.m.

All Shreve Memorial Library programs are free and open to the public.
