ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (FOX 56) — A settlement has been reached after a couple was killed when a sign fell on their vehicle in the parking lot of an Elizabethtown Denny’s.

FOX 56 previously reported that the incident happened in January 2023 at the Denny’s on Mulberry Street.

Detectives reported in 2023 that around 1:30 p.m., the Denny’s sign on Mulberry Street in Elizabethtown blew over due to high wind gusts. The sign fell off the pole onto a car with three people inside.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

The police said Lillian Curtis, 72, died from blunt force trauma, and her husband, 77-year-old Lloyd Curtis, died a few days later. Their daughter, who was also in the car with them at the time, was released from the hospital.

This week, a Hardin County Circuit Judge dismissed the lawsuit after the parties settled for an undisclosed amount.
