ALEXANDRIA, La. (WNTZ) – A Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) deputy arrested an Alexandria man Sept. 16 after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs, cash and firearms, authorities said.

Deputies identified the passenger as Christopher Deon Allen, 35, who was wanted on active warrants for distribution of Schedule II controlled substances. Allen was taken into custody without incident, while the driver of the vehicle was released at the scene, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.

A search of Allen yielded about three ounces of methamphetamine and more than $2,000 in cash. RADE agents later obtained a search warrant for Allen’s residence on Spencer Street, where they reported finding seven additional ounces of methamphetamine, four ounces of marijuana, 17 grams of ecstasy pills and three firearms. Because of prior felony convictions, Allen is prohibited from possessing guns.

Allen was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and ecstasy, illegal carrying of firearms with drugs, felon in possession of a firearm, and transactions involving drug proceeds. His bond was set at $145,000.

Authorities said the seized cash is being held under civil asset forfeiture laws, on suspicion it came from illegal drug sales. The investigation remains ongoing, and agents said more arrests are possible.

The RADE unit is a multi-agency task force that includes the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, local police departments, parish district attorneys and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
