Uninsured women 40 and older can get free breast cancer screenings while receiving a complimentary manicure.
There will also be food, prizes, and health resources.
When detected early at the localized stage, the breast cancer survival rate is as high as 99 percent. Still, it is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women, according to the American Cancer Society.
Executive Director of MLK Health Center & Pharmacy, Jordan R. Scroggs, said, “Louisiana continues to have one of the highest breast cancer death rates in the country—it’s
time we change that.”
“We know early detection saves lives, but too many women still lack access to affordable screenings. Mammograms & Manicures was created to remove that barrier and give women a chance to take charge of their health. We invite uninsured women to join us on October 9th. It could truly save a life.”
Appointments are required, and space is limited. Call (318) 227-2912 to pre-register by October 3.
