The free event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Hill Aerospace Museum and will offer visitors the opportunity to explore various aircrafts from military aviation history.
Kendahl Johnson with the Office of Public Affairs said that event guests will be able to peek inside the cockpits, cargo bays, and crew compartments of select historic aircrafts, which are normally closed to the public.
Guests will also have the opportunity to interact with Airmen and learn about their military missions.
“This event brings history to life in a way that few experiences can,” said Aaron Clark, Hill Aerospace Museum director. “Visitors don’t just see these historic aircraft – they can experience what it’s like to be inside the same spaces where Airmen once served, trained, and supported critical military missions across the world – for this one day only.”
Johnson said that the museum is home to over 70 aircrafts and thousands of artifacts.
There will be food trucks and live music on site. The gift shop will be open, with exclusive merchandise.
“Open Aircraft Day is part of the Hill Aerospace Museum’s mission to educate, inspire, and honor the legacy of U.S. Air Force aviation,” Johnson said.
