Florida woman dies after being shot in Montgomery County while visiting family

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A woman from Florida died after being shot last week in Montgomery County during a visit with family.

The Montgomery County Department of Police said the incident happened on Sept. 12 at around 4 p.m. First responders were called to the 23000 block of Mt. Ephraim Road for a shooting.

There, 55-year-old Abby Elaine Dunn, of Tallahassee, Fla., was found in an upstairs bedroom with a gunshot wound on her thigh.

Police said Dunn was visiting her elderly parents, who live in the home.

Dunn was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she died the next day.

The results of her autopsy are still pending.

The investigation is still ongoing. No charges have been filed as of Wednesday afternoon.
