MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A Missouri father was reunited with his two daughters in Montgomery County Wednesday after they were reported missing three years ago, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD).
Officers responded to a welfare check at a Residence Inn by Marriott in the 7300 block of Wisconsin Avenue. There, a woman was found sleeping on the hotel patio along with two girls who were wearing dirty clothes.
When officers attempted to engage with the girls, they did not respond, so Child Protective Services and the Mobile Crisis Team were alerted. Officers also expressed concern for them being out in the hot weather, and the three were transported to the hospital for evaluation.
The woman was determined to be the mother of the two girls. Police said a database search for the children’s father led to a Missouri man who reported his 36-year-old wife missing along with their 10 and six-year-old daughters three years ago.
The father was then reunited with his children in Montgomery County.
According to police, their case had not been entered into the national database since the family was last seen in Florida.
Police said no charges are being filed against the woman.
The incident remains under investigation by the Montgomery County Police Department’s Special Victims Investigations Division.
