Firm selected to aid in search for JSU president

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – An agency has been selected to assist in the search for a new president of Jackson State University (JSU).

The agency selected to aid the search is AGB Search out of Washington, D.C. This agency was selected by the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL).

Officials with the IHL said AGB Search presented a proposal that best matched the qualifications outlined in the formal request for proposals. IHL will formalize the agreement with AGB Search in the coming days.

Former JSU President Dr. Marcus Thompson submitted his resignation in May 2025. The Board of Trustees named Dr. Denise Jones Gregory, provost and vice president of academic affairs, as interim president.
