Public forums scheduled for Jackson police chief search

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The City of Jackson will host four public forums to gather community input during its nationwide search for a new police chief.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade announced his retirement in August 2025. Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones is serving as the interim police chief of the Jackson Police Department (JPD).

Schedule

  • Tuesday, September 23 – Forest Hill High School, 2607 Raymond Rd., Jackson, MS
  • Wednesday, September 24 – Westside Community Center, 1650 Wiggins Rd., Jackson, MS
  • Monday, September 29 – Jackson Medical Mall, Community Room, 350 West Woodrow Wilson Ave., Jackson, MS
  • Tuesday, September 30 – First Presbyterian Church, Miller Hall, 1390 N. State St., Jackson, MS

All sessions will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Residents may also complete the city’s public safety survey at www.jacksonms.gov/survey.
