Charges dropped against Floyd County woman accused of killing father

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (FOX 56) — The charges against the Prestonsburg woman accused of killing her father have been dropped.

In June, the Prestonsburg Police Department said it received a call from a woman who claimed she had shot her father.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

Investigators said when officers got to the home on the 2300 block of Kentucky Highway 321, they found Jimmy Harvey, 62, dead in a chair. Chief of Police Ross Shurtleff said it appeared that Harvey had been shot multiple times.

Summer Adkins, 22, was detained at the scene before being arrested and charged with murder.

On Wednesday, a grand jury declined to indict Adkins, according to records.

Court documents claim that, after reviewing all of the evidence, the jury did not believe Adkins could be convicted, given the circumstances.
