Both men, 32-year-old Teodoro Rodas Dubon and 38-year-old Erick Yojan Lopez Miralda, appeared in federal court in Portland on Sept. 16 and pleaded not guilty.
“Rodas Dubon and Lopez Miralda’s extraditions to the District of Oregon send a critical message: the United States will relentlessly pursue and hold accountable those involved in trafficking fentanyl,” said Scott Bradford, U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon. “These cases reinforce our commitment to holding all individuals involved in illicit drug operations accountable for the devastating impact they’ve had in Oregon.”
Rodas Dubon directed and controlled the distribution of bulk quantities of fentanyl throughout the Portland area beginning in 2022, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. After law enforcement took action against his drug trafficking organization, Rodas Dubon returned to Honduras, officials said.
Separately, Lopez Miralda ran a fentanyl distribution cell in Portland in 2023, according to the release. After law enforcement seized multiple kilograms of fentanyl, he too returned to Honduras.
Both men were arrested by Honduran police in January. On Sept. 15, they were extradited to the U.S., where they are facing federal charges in the District of Oregon. Following their arraignment Tuesday, a judge ordered both men to be detained until their jury trials begin in November.
“The DEA and our partners will aggressively pursue threats like these no matter where they come from,” said DEA Special Agent in Charge David Reames.
