ENFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) – The town of Enfield is honoring Jamie Nickerson, an employee who was hit and killed by a car last week, with a funeral procession on Wednesday.

The crash happened at around 12:15 p.m. on September 12th on North Main Street just west of Route 5, according to WTNH. The town employee, identified as Jamie Nickerson, was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and was pronounced dead hours later.

The lawn mower was an Enfield Department of Public Works mower, the police chief said.

The driver of the car, identified as Alexander Torres, was taken to St. Francis Hospital with suspected serious injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.

The funeral procession for Jamie Nickerson will take place between 11 a.m. and noon on South Road and King Street. Police have advised commuters to be patient as there may be delays on the roadway during this time.
