
Another warm and sunny day is on tap Tuesday around Chicagoland, as summer-like conditions continue.
High temperatures will again reach the 80s inland, even getting into the upper 80s to the west and southwest, definitely warmer than usual for mid-September. It’ll remain cooler at the lakefront, but still very pleasant, with highs in the upper 70s.
High pressure sitting across Lake Huron will continue to provide fair and tranquil weather across Chicagoland on Tuesday, with no rain chances, light winds and abundant sunshine in the forecast.
Conditions look to remain similar on Wednesday and Thursday, with high temps projected to be even warmer as summer continues to hang on for a little longer (see more below).

A warmer-than-normal temperature regime is locked in place for a while, despite a modest downturn in temps toward the coming weekend.
Chicago forecast highs and departure from normal
Forecast mean maximum temperature anomaly: Sept. 18-22
The Great Lakes and Ohio Valley are at the epicenter of the largest high temperature surplus during this forecast period.
Forecast 6-10-day outlook: Sept. 21-25
The entire Lower 48 is likely to see temperatures at or above normal overall during this timeframe.

This is a good proxy indicator of how temperatures will respond at the surface. Blue shading is cooler than normal air, while orange and red represents areas that are warmer than normal.
This animation shows no sign of cool, autumn air for at least the next 10 days, with temperatures overall forecast to remain at or above normal.
Humidity forecast
Comfortable levels of humidity are forecast to continue with the warmer-than-normal temperatures until the weekend, when the next modest chances of rain are expected.
Chicago’s precipitation chances
Dry, tranquil conditions are expected until late Friday or early Saturday, when low-coverage rain chances return.
Forecast 7-day precipitation
Minimal, non-impactful rainfall is expected across the Chicago area, with much heavier totals forecast across portions of the Upper Midwest and Plains.
