Resident hospitalized after large fire at north Abilene duplex

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A resident was hospitalized after a large fire at an Abilene duplex Monday night.

The fire happened at a duplex on the 600 block of N Jefferson Drive around 8:30 p.m.

First responders arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from one of the units.

Crews were able to contain the damage and keep it from spreading to any other apartments, but one resident was hospitalized, according to the fire department. Their current condition is not known at this time.

The cause of this fire, which caused an estimated $50,000 worth of damage, is still under investigation.
