Montgomery County police arrest 1 in Exxon armed carjacking, searching for more suspects

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Police arrested an 18-year-old from Hyattsville for an armed carjacking that happened at a Silver Spring Exxon in June.

The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) said that around 2:45 a.m. on June 30, officers responded to the Exxon in the 1200 block of New Hampshire Ave. for an armed carjacking.

Police believe that 18-year-old Amilio Xavier Hernandez and other suspects blocked a parked car near a gas pump in a dark colored SUV. The group got out of the SUV and ordered the victim at gunpoint to get out of their car.

The victim did so, and Hernandez and the other suspects left in both cars, police said.

Police arrested Hernandez on Sept. 10 and held him without bond. He was charged with armed carjacking and other related charges.

Anyone with any information about this carjacking is asked to submit a tip online or call 1-866-411-8477.
