Fire forces Doc’s Diner to turn to public fundraising for repairs

LOVES PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — The owners of Doc’s Diner have turned to public fundraising for assistance to afford repairs after a fire broke out on the roof late last month.

Doc’s Diner, at 6499 N. 2nd Street, caught fire on August 20.

Firefighters reported that the restaurant’s ventilation system was being serviced when the fire started.

According to GoFundMe organizer Lisa Trickie, “Ron and Mary have been small business owners in our community for many years. They suffered a horrific blow to their livelihood on August 20th this year. A fire, that is going to cost them $30,000. They will not be able to open until all repairs and sanitation are complete. The responsible party for this fire is taking no responsibility for his actions, nor is his insurance company.”

The fundraiser hopes to raise $6,000.
